Fast Day 14: Spending Time With God

READ
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Certain things no one can do for you. And one of those is spending time with God. Listening to God is a firsthand experience. –Max Lucado (Just Like Jesus)

Are you praying for guidance and direction in specific aspects of your life this year? Do you ever find yourself thinking or quickly praying, God if I could just have a clue or know what is coming next…

God has given us the roadmap to be enlightened! He wants to speak to you and guide you in His will, but the discipline of reading the directions and understanding the roadmap are solely based on your willingness and time you create to spend with Him. Living a life in relationship with God is based on changes in consciousness, conviction and conscience. Reading His Word gives you knowledge and enlightenment of His promises for you, ultimately changes your consciousness. As you apply the knowledge you gain by reading the Bible, it changes in your behavior, or personal conviction to change to live more like God has called you to live. Lastly, the changes in your consciousness and conviction affect your conscience, which influences you to do what’s right and live in a Godly way.

REFLECT and RESPOND
Assess how you are spending time with God by reading His Word. Are you reading for knowledge and understanding? Are you applying what you have learned to your life? How are the choices you are making evident of God’s work and your will to live in His light in your life? Determine what you need (i.e. tools, resources, time, environment) to go to a deeper level of intimacy with God by spending time with Him in the Word. Respond in the comments below.

We recommend you keep a journal of your personal responses to questions posed in each of the daily devotionals so you can meditate not only during the first 21 days during your prayer time, but you can reflect throughout the entire year to be able to see how God has really moved on your behalf in 2016 and you have record of your testimony.
