Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)
…He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
2016 is a year of new beginnings. God didn’t wait for the new year to start doing something great in you, or through you. In Philippians 1:6, Paul writes that God has begun a good work in you; He has already started this work, continues daily and will continue until the return of Jesus. We typically make new year resolutions; we begin new Bible reading plans, we participate in a corporate time of fasting and prayer and some of us get serious about eating right and working out. The new year is when gym memberships are at their peak. If you go to the gym between January 2 and February 1, it’s nearly impossible to find an available treadmill or space in a Zumba class. By February 2, the gym crowd starts to thin and by March there’s always an available treadmill and plenty of workout space. Doesn’t it make you happy that God does not start something in you, then get bored or too busy, and within a month or two, He is working on something new or onto working on someone else?
REFLECT
Meditate on His Word that He will continuously work in you; He has already begun and will not cease until the day of Jesus Christ.
RESPOND
We are halfway through the fast. How has God revealed His works in you? Have you been refreshed of the purpose He has for your life? How will you continue to seek His direction and relationship with Him more than you ever have before? Respond in the comments below.
We recommend you keep a journal of your personal responses to questions posed in each of the daily devotionals so you can meditate not only during the first 21 days during your prayer time, but you can reflect throughout the entire year to be able to see how God has really moved on your behalf in 2016 and you have record of your testimony.
